Biogas Hautrage has filed an appeal to allow the Walloon Government to rule on a project backed by two years of studies and consultations.
Following an in-depth analysis of the decision denying the single permit at the first instance, Biogas Hautrage filed an appeal with the Walloon Government.
CIP remains convinced that the elements of the application are fully aligned with Wallonia’s key priorities in the areas of energy, climate, and industry. Furthermore, all the factors that led to the denial can be addressed with precise, documented, and comprehensive responses.
Biogas Hautrage wishes to reaffirm that it is both able and willing to provide the necessary guarantees regarding the project’s potential externalities.
While the Tertre Ecozone has experienced several closures and reductions in activity in recent months—which have severely impacted employment and the local economy—Biogas Hautrage can contribute to the revitalization of this region. The project’s implementation will create nearly 100 direct and indirect jobs. By integrating sustainably into the community and fostering dialogue with all stakeholders, BGH aims to bring new economic momentum while respecting local priorities.
For the CIP, this new phase marks the culmination of two years of continuous improvement of the project and provides an opportunity to demonstrate that it is possible to reconcile the energy transition, industrial ambition, environmental excellence, agricultural development, and the creation of sustainable value for the benefit of Wallonia.
